A party game on one phone
One charged phone, a group of friends and a few minutes to be suspicious. Spyfall runs in the browser, so everyone can play without installing an app or creating an account.

What you need
A group of 3–10 is the intended fit. Load thespyfall.com while connected to the internet, then choose Local play. You share the device; nobody else needs to join a room. Loading the game from scratch without internet is not guaranteed.
Set up in six steps
- Tap Start game → Local play.
- Choose Places or Items.
- Set the number of spies and the round time. For a first round, use one spy, no insane players and five minutes.
- Add names with commas or new lines. Names can be up to 12 characters.
- Pass the phone. Each player taps to reveal their card, reads it, then taps to hide it before handing it on.
- Set the phone on the table. Ask questions, listen for suspicious answers and call a vote when you're ready.
Choose settings for your group
| Players | A starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 3–4 | 1 spy, no insanity, 3 minutes | A short introduction with fewer answers to compare. |
| 5–6 | 1 spy, 1 insane innocent, 5 minutes | Enough people to cross-check conflicting answers. |
| 7–10 | 2 spies, 1 insane innocent, 8 minutes | More conversation and more than one suspect. |
These are suggestions, not enforced presets. The setup requires enough players for the selected spies and insane innocents, plus at least one regular innocent.
Questions that start a conversation
For Places, try “Would you come here alone?”, “What would you wear?” or “Who works here?” For Items, try “Would you take it on holiday?” or “Could you lend it to someone?” Avoid naming the secret word. You want to sound informed without handing the answer to the spy.
When your group knows the rules
Try Insanity Mode. Some innocent players see related wrong words: a hospital instead of a hotel, for example. Both can have reception desks and beds, so two honest answers can contradict each other. With Insane spy enabled, the spy also gets a wrong word and doesn't initially know their identity.
Finish the round together
Vote out all spies to win as innocents. Spies win when remaining spies equal or outnumber remaining innocents after a vote, or if the round is concluded with spies still in play. At zero on the timer, select View Results. See the complete rules for online voting and win conditions.
The ending automatically reveals players one by one, with spies last. Pause or resume whenever you like. The exact words shown to insane players explain their answers. Skip moves straight to the summary, and Play again keeps the same group for another round.
Need everyone on separate devices?
Use Online play instead. A host creates a room and shares a four-character code or invitation link. Friends can talk across the same table or over a voice call. Online rooms need an internet connection on each device.
